Can man-made fibres be sustainable?

We live in a world with endless possibilities thanks to technology and science. That statement also stands true for material sustainability and the endless prospects of man-made fibres.

There is a common misconception in textiles that natural is always best, however this is not always the case. Sustainability is not so black and white, especially when it comes to blanket statements regarding fibres and labelling them sustainable or not. Instead we need to look at each individual stage of the production process, as much like people, fibres are diverse in their properties.

That’s why when we were choosing the fibres we wanted to work with we wanted to include Modal; soft and strong, gentle on the skin but also a more responsible choice when sourced sustainably.

As we rethink sustainability in textiles, fibres like Modal remind us that innovation and responsibility can go hand in hand.
